Hello and welcome to the first of my holiday gift guides!
I recently visited Brighton with some friends in search of some unique Christmas gifts and I had such a lovely time there I wanted to share my top finds with you.
If you’re not handy to Brighton fear not: all of the shops featured can be found online as well. I’ll pop their websites at the bottom of this post.
When I think back to my childhood Christmases I remember the knitted stocking that would hang empty on the end of my bed on Christmas Eve and come morning would be filled with satsumas, gold chocolate coins, little trinkets and, if there was space, a Terry’s Chocolate Orange.
The days of stockings on the end of the bed are long since gone but there’s still something undeniably festive about the marriage of chocolate and orange – especially if it’s encased in crumb! If you’ve a fondness for a Terry’s at this time of year you will love this cake.
Last weekend I had the good fortune to visit some old friends up in Edinburgh and in the spirit of silliness we decided to spend the dwindling daylight hours robbing children of their happiness and winning big at Portobello’s amusement arcade.

Sorry I’ve been a wee bit quiet these past couple of weeks. Work has reached another busy phase and a lot of other things seem to have faded into the background…except they haven’t really! I’ve been a busy bee filming videos and taking pictures although I’m chasing my tail a bit now trying to edit them all!
I’ve been toying with the idea of bringing something different to my videos here on the blog and on my YouTube channel and I realised I really love to watch videos where someone is having a bit of a chat with their audience so I thought I’d give it a go myself. Maybe you’ll enjoy watching these like I do?
There’s nothing better than getting out into nature but the temperamental British weather can sometimes put a bit of a dampener on the very best laid plans. Even as I write this post the clouds are darkening overhead as they toy with the idea of rain on what’s an otherwise gloriously sunny day.
