There’s nothing better than getting out into nature but the temperamental British weather can sometimes put a bit of a dampener on the very best laid plans. Even as I write this post the clouds are darkening overhead as they toy with the idea of rain on what’s an otherwise gloriously sunny day.

Spring favourites
April seemed to run into May when I wasn’t looking and now we’re nearing the end of June I thought I might do a bumper edition of my favourites for Spring.
When I was home in April I took advantage of a tremendous Groupon deal and treated myself to a QFT Film Card. Those in the know have been keeping mum about Belfast’s best independent cinema which boasts cutting-edge film 7 nights a week. (I promise they didn’t pay me to say that.) The offer was something crazy like £10 for a year’s membership which affords members discounts on cinema tickets and free refills on tea and coffee. Plus when you join you get 2 free tickets to enjoy at whatever film you fancy, with the exception of live broadcasts – more on that later.
Welcome to the ‘Like a Local’ series!
One of the best ways to experience a new place is to ask the people who live and work there for their recommendations. I think it’s a great way to understand a people’s mindset and culture by immersing yourself in their way of life.
My Day in Pictures: Stunning St Anne’s Cathedral
On one of my recent trips back home I found myself wandering about a bright but blustery Belfast and popped into St Anne’s Cathedral to seek a little shelter. St Anne’s is probably the best known church in the city and like many of the city’s most iconic buildings, it’s steeped in history.
Things I have learned about myself whilst packing
In the wee small hours of Tuesday morning I’ll be making my merry way back to the metropolis after over two blissful weeks back home. As I come to the end of my first year in London I’ve decided now’s the time to bring my beloved hot wheels, Bette, with me for the ride. For those who haven’t had the pleasure, Bette is my car and she is presently weighed down with rather a lot of my belongings in anticipation of the journey.
I used to think of myself as a brilliant packer. However, as I have aged it’s something that has begun to bring out a bit of a beast in me when it comes to organising my life and putting things neatly into boxes. Gone are the days of flying by the seat of my pants and packing an hour and a bit before the ferry or plane is about to depart.
