At the tail end of 2015 I had my first visit to Kew Gardens for their Christmas at Kew night time light show. I had such a great time that when my inbox pinged with news of their Orchid Festival I booked my ticket right away.
I used the trip as a chance to photograph the flora at close range. My long suffering friend Sophie came with me and waited patiently while I hovered over the most sought after species to get the best shot. She also very patiently took many a photo of me in an attempt to get just one without a sea of people in the background. I think she did a great job!
We went on the half term weekend so the place was awash with families and children keen to explore the artificial rainforest the gardeners at Kew had created. We paid £10 each to attend and spent a good few hours exploring the grounds. The orchids are housed in their own conservatory so it’s still worth a visit even if the rain is pelting outside.
We rounded off our trip with a coffee and peruse of the gift shop. I hope you enjoy the pictures – believe it or not this is the whittled down selection! For more information on the Festival of Orchids at Kew Gardens click here. The festival runs until 6th March.
Until next time,
