I’ve long had a soft spot for country music ever since the time I heard LeeAnn Rimes warble her way through ‘How do I live‘ when I – like LeeAnn – was a teenager. Since then my tastes have evolved and so has country music.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks here at Tales of Adventure HQ: mum came for a visit and we went to the Country 2 Country music festival before taking off for a lovely few days in Prague – if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you’ll have seen some snippets already. Spoiler alert – we had a terrific time!

At the tail end of 2015 I had my first visit to Kew Gardens for their Christmas at Kew night time light show. I had such a great time that when my inbox pinged with news of their Orchid Festival I booked my ticket right away.
I used the trip as a chance to photograph the flora at close range. My long suffering friend Sophie came with me and waited patiently while I hovered over the most sought after species to get the best shot. She also very patiently took many a photo of me in an attempt to get just one without a sea of people in the background. I think she did a great job!

I had been meaning to catch the Cosmonauts exhibition at the Science Museum for a while so when I heard they would be open until 10pm every Friday until the exhibition closes I decided to kickstart my weekend with a trip to Outer Space – (the jokes get worse from hereon in. Sorry.)

Last weekend I rose with the birds and set off across London in search of adventure. Well, in search of The Adventure Travel Show at least. Even though the show’s been going for 20 years I’d never heard of it before and wasn’t sure what to expect when I arrived at Kensington Olympia.
Set out on one floor the place was bustling with eager travellers, keen to snap up a bargain in between seminars and panel talks. We opted to give the seminars a miss – I’m sure they were great but at £45 they were beyond my budget for the day. But no matter. In between entering every competition in sight and lusting after expensive adventure holidays we managed to get along to a couple of panels and they were brilliant.
